Privacy Policy
Effective with the launch of Silkfire. v1.0 — pre-launch policy; a counsel-reviewed revision will replace this version before general availability.
This policy describes what Silkfire LLC ("Silkfire") collects and how it is used.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, username, display name, and avatar.
- Reading activity — which chapters you read and your position in them, used to resume your reading, build your library, and rank what's shown on the home screen.
- Sign-up context — the page and campaign parameters present when you created your account, recorded once and used in aggregate to understand where readers come from.
- Consent records — which version of the terms and policies you accepted, when, and a hashed network identifier, kept as evidence of acceptance.
- Product analytics — events about how features are used (for example, completing a chapter). Analytics are explicit events, not session-wide recording by default; where session replay is used it is sampled and consent-gated.
We do not sell personal data and we do not run third-party advertising.
Where it lives
Silkfire runs on Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Cloudflare (content delivery). Product analytics are processed by PostHog. Transactional email is delivered by our email provider. Payment processing, when it launches, will be handled by Stripe; Silkfire never stores card numbers.
Cookies
Silkfire uses cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in). Analytics state is only stored on your device after consent where consent is required.
Your rights
You can access and update your profile from settings, and delete your account — including your reading history — from account settings at any time. For data-access or erasure requests beyond that, or anything GDPR/CCPA related, contact privacy@silkfire.app.
Retention
Account data lives for the life of the account. When you delete your account, personal data is deleted promptly; records we are legally required to keep (for example, consent evidence and moderation decisions required for platform-safety compliance) may be retained in a form decoupled from your deleted profile.
Changes
This policy is versioned. Material changes get a new version number; the version you accepted is recorded with your account.
